Position Overview:
As the Student Services Director, your main responsibility is to
represent and advocate for the student body. Your job duties include
supervising the student services staff, assists with managing department budget, ensuring
compliance with state and federal regulations, and handling the
logistics for student activities and events while demonstrating an understanding of and commitment to calssical education and the vision, mission and philosophy of the school.
REPORTS TO: Head of School & Dean of Students
Summary: The Director of Student Services is a creative, dynamic, and
thoughtful leader who works to fulfill the mission and vision of NCA.
The Director of Student Services will be responsible for supporting the
facilitation of an inclusive model for student services, that is based
upon best practices, NCA’s philosophy and the needs of all students.
The Director of Student Services directs the planning, development,
organization, management, direction, and implementation of all
aspects of Student Services for NCA which include, but are not limited
to, special education, student discipline, social-emotional
programming and team development, grant funded programs, and
Section 504. Furthermore, the Director of Student Services assures
compliance with all laws, codes, and regulations related to Student
Services; evaluates assigned personnel, and collaborates/provides
support to administrative and professional staff in meeting identified
instructional goals of the District. The Director of Student Services is a
strategic thinker and a proactive leader who models strong
communication, organization, and interpersonal skills, as well as an
unwavering commitment and energy to sustain momentum in the
journey towards learning practices for all learners with the mission and vision of the school in mind.

● Assist with the work focused on inclusive practices, which embraces
all learners as valued members of the school community, and ensures
that children who need additional interventions or intensive support
can learn alongside their peers
● Assist in planning budgetary resources for the programs
● Support office staff with maintenance of student records
● Assist in establishing long term and short term goals for
implementation plans and growth
● Ability to build a vision for Student Services and Special Education
that aligns with the mission and values of our school
● Build and lead an effective team to help achieve vision & goals.
SSD Job Description
● Ability to effectively and consistently communicate with community
including parents and outside agencies
● Ability to leverage and build the talents of those on your team, while
providing effective coaching in identified growth areas
● Strong communication, collaboration and organizational skills
● Evaluate personnel and assist in the determination of goals to
improve performance
● Work with Administration to support teachers to ensure
instructional improvement and maintain highest instructional
standards for all students.
● Support alternative learning settings for students as appropriate
● Attend district and administrative meetings and other meetings or
events as assigned
● Oversee the District’s implementation of Non-Violent Crisis
Intervention programming and training for staff
● Maintain budgets and accounts for Special Education and Student
Services
● Oversee the Hospital and Homebound program
● Oversee the implementation of special education services; ensure
guidelines, procedures, and instruction are in compliance with state
and federal laws, rules and regulations, and Board Policy
● Conduct training for staff pertaining to academic instruction,
special education services, data-based decision making, IEP and
Transition Planning, as well as special education policies and
procedures.
● Assist building personnel with curriculum adaptation, intervention
selection and implementation to support students with support needs.
● Meet regularly with the teachers to help guide, coach, and problem
solve
● Coordinate with the District Admins as needed
● Coordinates and supervises Extended School Year needs.
● Effectively communicate with all parents regarding the needs of
students, and comply with communication protocols for special
education student needs
● Ensure the school has an appropriate continuum of services and
that students are being placed in their least restrictive environment
● Manage and oversee transition services and programming
● Work with transition specialists on transition planning
● Oversee and provide training on digital IEP and records storage
● Oversee the implementation of special education assessments
● Collaborate with CCPS Special Education department
● Assist in the establishment of goals and objectives for district
aligned Student Services
● Work with the Admins to address building needs and create
processes and procedures that most effectively support students.
● Seek ways to impart a restorative and rehabilitative approach to
student conduct.
● Understand the spectrum of student interventions and help staff
implement best practices
● Collaborate with the Admins on building a cohesive system which
supports students post-secondary success, both academically and
social-emotionally. All other applicable duties as assigned to Special
Education Qualifications and Requirements:
● Current FL Professional Educator Certification
● Bachelor's (Master's preferred) Degree in School Administration, Special Education or related field
● Five years of school administration experience preferred
● Must have a strong background in special education administration and instruction, including experience with special education processes, procedures and legal requirements, evaluations (both student and teacher) and a deep understanding of IEP development and evaluation
● Strong background in social-emotional learning competencies and experience working with social, emotional, and behavioral intervention teams
