Physical Education (PE) Assistant
NCA is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic PE assistant to join our PE Team. The PE asst. would support the PE Teachers in implementing the PE curriculum and engaging students. They would work under the supervision of PE teachers and assist with supervising, observing and instructing students during PE class and report progress regarding student performance and behavior.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supporting the teacher
Assisting with setting up equipment, distributing and collecting equipment, and taking class attendance
Supervising students
Monitoring students' behavior and safety, and applying discipline procedures as needed
Helping students
Assisting students with assignments, exercises, and drills, and providing guidance and support
Promoting good habits
Encouraging students to develop good sportsmanship and courtesy, and promoting good health
Assisting with events
Helping to organize and run school events, such as sports days
Demonstrating stewardship
Using school resources wisely, and teaching students to do the same
Building community
Supporting administrators, teachers, and other staff, and assisting students outside of the classroom and performing assigned duties
Any other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
Required knowledge, skills & abilities:
● Knowledge of child cognitive development and different learning styles
● Ability and willingness to be coached
● Ability to collaborate with colleagues, administrators, parents and community
Minimum educational level:
Possession of high school diploma or equivalent
Experience required:
1+ year working with students in an educational environment
Physical requirements:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be reasonably met by a PE Assistant to successfully perform the essential functions of this job in an outdoor environment.
☒ Stand, walk or bend over, kneel, crouch, reach overhead, grasp, push, and pull. Move, lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds to shoulder height.
☒ Repetitive use of hands (i.e. fine manipulation, simple grasping, and power grasping).
☒ Demonstrate normal depth perception.
☒ Sitting, walking or standing for extended periods of time outside.
☒ Dexterity of hands and fingers and large motor skills
☒ Distinguish colors.
☒ Read and understand rules and policies, labels, and instructions.
☒ Hear and understand speech at normal levels
☒ Verbal communications, including the ability to speak and hear at normal levels
☒ Assignment includes duties such as Lunch, recess, arrival and dismissal duties as assigned
☒ Work is performed in an outdoor environments and will include long periods of standing and moving daily.
