Position Overview

Naples Classical Academy seeks a skilled and dedicated Drum Line Instructor to lead and instruct students in grades 6–12 in percussion performance. This part-time, stipend-based position supports the school’s commitment to classical education by cultivating discipline, excellence, teamwork, and musical mastery through structured instruction and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct and rehearse the school drum line for students in grades 6–12

  • Plan and lead rehearsals held Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:30–5:30 PM (occasional nights and weekends)

  • Teach proper percussion technique, rhythm, music reading, and ensemble performance skills

  • Prepare students for school events, concerts, parades, athletic events, and competitions as applicable

  • Foster discipline, responsibility, teamwork, and leadership consistent with classical education values

  • Collaborate with the Music department and relevant faculty to align instruction with school mission

  • Select age-appropriate repertoire, exercises, and performance materials

  • Ensure proper use, care, and storage of instruments and equipment

  • Supervise students during rehearsals and performances, maintaining a safe and respectful environment

  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school administration

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated prior experience in percussion and drum line instruction

  • Strong knowledge of marching percussion techniques and ensemble leadership

  • Ability to teach and motivate students across varying skill levels (grades 6–12)

  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills

  • Commitment to the mission and values of NCA

  • Prior teaching or instructional experience necessary

Compensation

  • Paid by stipend, commensurate with experience and responsibilities
