Position Summary:
The Associate Dean of Students (ADS) is second in command of student discipline and implementing the school’s culture plan, during the Dean of Students absence, or upon delegation. The Associate Dean of Students (ADS) serves as the Dean of Students (DOS) primary designee, and is part of the Leadership Team. He/she is responsible for just discipline systems and protocols, school culture, and supervision of specified staff. As part of the Leadership Team, his or her participation is vital as a manner of bringing to attention strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats to school culture.
The responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to, the following:
Support, nurture and promote the school’s mission, vision, and core values; and the principles of classical education.
Cares about meticulous detail specific problems, researches solutions, and trains staff to achieve those solutions
Committed to mentorship and just discipline, in terms of developing student character and sustaining the school’s moral identity.
Speaks comfortably and collaboratively with parents to promote the school's mission.
Assists NCA Administration Team to ensure the school can run in a safe, effective manner for student learning and achievement.
Creates a positive culture in which collaboration and collegiality guide relationships and decision making.
Create and implement a Culture Plan for all students, in collaboration with the DOS.
Support and promote curriculum alignment and fidelity under the guidance of the Head of School and Dean of students & Culture.
Assists the DOS with student behavioral interventions. Manages school discipline, treating students with respect and fairness while enforcing the NCA Family Handbook policies for attendance, uniform and behavior.
Proactively communicate programs and expectations with all stakeholders.
Demonstrate efficient and effective written and oral communication with parents. Utilizing the “24-hour” response time rule for the most-effective communication .
With the DOS, develop a House System for all students/staff to take part in (AY2526).
With the DOS, implement the House System for all NCA students (AY2627).
In partnership with the DOS, the ADS presents strategies on effective classroom management with faculty/staff.
In partnership with the DOS, assigns mentor teachers to each new teacher. Creates a year-long mentoring schedule for each educator pairing, with frequent check-ins relating to the following: staff expectations, management of students and emergency procedures.
Is responsible for creating, overseeing and execution of a Flag Guard program through the VFW - for selected students to join and raise/lower the school’s USA flag each day.
Follows rules/consequence plans as stated in the Family Handbook (student code of conduct), coordinating investigations with administration, noting and preserving all data collected and in compliance with the district, legal and state guidelines.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualified candidates will meet the following requirements:
A Bachelor's Degree from a fully accredited college is required.
Valid teaching certification is preferred.
Previous experience in classical education is preferred.
Leadership experience in a wide range of grade levels from elementary school through high school is preferred.
Candidates should possess excellent written and oral communication skills.
At least 2 years of experience in school Administration and at least 3 years in a school educational environment
