About Naples Classical Academy:
Our mission is to train the minds and improve the hearts of young people through a content-rich classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character and civic virtue. Naples Classical Academy is a growing public charter school that opened in the fall of 2021 and now serves scholars grades K - 12. Our school follows the Hillsdale classical curriculum that includes a variety of important subjects including history, Philosophy, Language Arts, Mathematics, visual arts, science, music, physical education, and others. The essence of virtue, Western philosophy, and moral character permeates our curriculum as we seek to instill a love for knowledge and learning in our scholars.
Naples Classical Academy (NCA) is seeking a Physical Education teacher for the 2026/27 school year.
Physical education plays an integral and irreplaceable role in classical education. Physical education should focus on developing in physical movement as well as broadening student's range of movement. The exercises and games should be intentional, foundational, and progression-based.
Required Skills/Abilities
Bachelor's Degree
Strong background in content areas; willingness to receive specific training
Eligibility to work in the United States
A satisfactory background check is required by state law and the Department of Education
Conviction in the values of a rigorous liberal arts education
Loyalty to NCA’s mission and vision
Commitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtues
Adherence to all school policies, including but not limited to the Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies
Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
Proven ability to work in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment
Ability to engage in physical activities, including demonstrating exercises, sports and instructional techniques
Ability to develop positive and professional relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Strong knowledge of physical fitness, sports and health education
Creative problem-solving skills
Willingness to perform other related duties as necessary
Foster professional relationships with faculty and staff.
Seek collaborative relationships with parents and colleagues and mentor students
Assess and evaluate student performance and progress, providing constructive feedback
Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance and physical fitness assessments
Ensure safety and proper maintenance of all PE equipment
Attend staff meetings, professional development and training sessions
Education/Job Requirements:
Required: Bachelor's Degree
Preferred: Previous teaching experience in a school setting
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Must be able to traverse the classroom and adjust tone and height by bending or leaning
Prolonged periods of standing to teach
Preferred- Possession of a Florida Educator Certification in corresponding subject area or Statement of Status of Eligibility showing eligible status in such subject area or desire to do so within 2 years of employment (NCA can provide information on obtaining the necessary cert for eligible candidates.)
Preferred- Prior Teaching Experience
Ability to walk, stand, stoop, bend, push, or lift
